【英语知识】expect和besides区别
besides是作“除此之外”讲，是肯定的意思，相当于as well as或in addition to的用法；except则是作“除了”讲，是否定的意思，相当于butnot或leaving out的用法。例如：
Besides half bottle of whisky，he drank three gins andsome beer．除了半瓶威士忌之外，他还喝了3杯杜松子酒和一些啤酒。（3种酒都喝了）
I like all drinks except whisky．除了威士忌，我什么酒都喜欢喝。（仿佛说“I don''t like whisky．”）
All of the blackguards have kept out of the way besides that one．连这个在内，所有的坏蛋都已敛迹了。（包括那一个在内）
All of the blackguards have kept out of the way except thatone．除了那一个以外，所有的坏蛋都已敛迹了。（不包括那一个在内）
如果是用于疑问和否定两种结构，两者可以通用。试举例来说明，例如：
The old man has nothing to live besides/except his pen-sion．除了养老金之外，这位老年人别无生活来源。（用于否定句，两者都可以通用，都作“不包括在内”讲）。
Besides/Except this dictionary，did he give you anything else？
除了这本词典之外，他还给你别的什么吗？（用于疑问句，两者也可以通用，都作“包括在内”讲。）
注意：
There was another one besides me．除我之外另有一人。（是两人，所以不能说…no one besides me，也不能说…another one except me）
There was no one except me．除了我，别无他人。（是一人，所以不能说…another one except me，也不能说…no one besides me）
